Throughout the year we organise tours across Somerset, to take part just contact us and we can book your place on the next available tour. Our tours are run by Andy, Gary and Mark, who have years of experience and vast knowledge in the field of detecting. Furthermore, Andy has an in-depth knowledge of the history of the local area and would be more than happy to share this information with you.  It is important for us to ensure the group sizes remain relatively small, with groups below 6 as an average number, although we can cater for larger groups.

We are blessed with an abundance of history in Somerset, including evidence from the Palaeolithic, Neolithic, Bronze and Iron Age periods. In fact, the Somerset Levels are home to the oldest known human road work, known as the ‘sweet track’.  The invasion and conquest by the Romans within this area of the UK is well documented, with silver and lead mining in the Mendip hills a major industry for the Romans; and of course the famous city of Bath and its thermal springs and ancient architecture.

However, arguably the most famous is Alfred, King of Wessex, who ruled over large parts of the south of England, including Somerset.  Alfred famously defeated the Vikings, to ensure Wessex remained in the hands of the Anglo-Saxons.

We also specialise in stay and detect holidays, so if you fancy making a trip of it, feel free to contact us. It’s a perfect opportunity to delve into the rich history of Somerset, in the area once known as Avalon.

So far we have had some amazing discoveries, including; Saxon& Roman brooches, numerous coins and (more info from Andy to finish)
