Explore the Somerset countryside the best way – by paddling.

From Wall Eden Farm you and your friends or family can navigate the River Brue as far as Glastonbury, paddling through miles of peaceful countryside; you may see kingfishers, herons, otters and an abundance of other wildlife along the way.

“It was absolutely magical. So beautiful and peaceful with so much to see – herons, swans and cygnets, kingfishers, swallows, huge fish and lots of different types of dragonflies” (from Jackie and Richard, Minehead)

Once you have booked all you need to do is turn up 15 minutes before your adventure. Once here we will get you kitted out with all the equipment you need for your day on the water and give you time to read the hire rules and conditions, which will need signing before we can begin the activity. We will then make our way to the river, which is a short 50-meter walk, for a brief health and safety talk to ensure your safety on the water. You will then depart from Wall Eden Adventure via our launch point on the river and head towards Glastonbury through the spectacular Somerset Levels. Once you’ve had enough just turn your board around and head back to us.

The river is a historical waterway and is steeped in history, allowing you to immerse yourself with the splendour of this ancient route as you paddle through miles of this beautiful untouched watercourse. The river has been used for well over a thousand years and has strong connections to the Romans and Anglo-Saxons, with ports at Langport, Glastonbury and Highbridge.

As you travel up river you will see evidence of the home guards’ (WWII) presence in and around the area, with numerous pillboxes lining the banks of the Brue; part of a last-ditch defensive line to prevent enemies from invading from the south-west.

Parts of the river are safeguarded by an ecological conservation project managed by Somerset Wildlife Trust, with the aim of protecting the natural habitat, including the large array of wildlife; which you will hopefully encounter as you navigate the River Brue on your stand up paddle board.
